Excel in Property: A Year in Review 2023
As we approach the end of the year, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey we've had. This year has been a whirlwind of challenges and triumphs, and I'm excited to share some key moments and achievements with you.
Something I am very proud of is how loyal our clients are. Lots of them have been around for years and are kind enough to refer us to new clients. A couple of years ago one client, Tom, said “Lucy and Ang are the best. Please don’t use them or they won’t have enough time for me.” I’m pleased to say that we do always find time for Tom, but that we are also so lucky to have added more clients to our black book each year.
This year we had the pleasure of working for a different kind of client – a renewable energy and infrastructure investor – giving us the opportunity to build a complex fund model and a shareholder equity model. We must say we are glad we don’t have to deal with share structures like that very often!
We also sadly said goodbye to Ang after 18 months. Ang was a wonderful analyst and provided so much support to me throughout those 18 months – this year she added building models to her resume, as well as helping to build our training course and keep us on track for getting it finished! We wish her so much luck in her future.
We also dipped our toe back into the office scene, spending 6 months working from an office in Hammersmith. It wasn’t to my liking in the end though, as I work much better without the distraction of coworkers’ chit-chat!
I took part in a mastermind programme this year, learning from business owners in all different sectors and at different stages of their business growth, and have learnt so much from it over the last 12 months. I became a Certified Business Strategist and look forward to bringing that knowledge to our clients going forward.
Also, this year, Farley Cove became Excel in Property. When I started the business 4 years ago, I chose the name based on its connection to where I grew up, but I always felt it was just a thing to call the business. This year we developed our training under the name trading name Excel in Property, and the more I thought about it, the more I want the company to become Excel in Property. We do Excel and we do Property (and of course we do much more than that!), but for our name to be our primary message and core service, it just felt right.
Last but not least, the things we are most proud of are the metrics, that we (obviously) keep in an Excel spreadsheet. Here are some highlights:
- No of Clients: 18
- Bespoke Models built: 8
- Value modelled: £596bn
- Bespoke Waterfalls built: 3
- Most Complex Project: Equity Shareholder Model
- New LinkedIn Followers: 226
- LinkedIn Newsletter Subscribers: 237
- Countries Visited: 7
Thank you so much to everyone we have worked with over the last 12 months and who have supported us on our journey. See you in 2024!
